#9 One Important Sentence in the book

The quote that best represents the theme of the book is at the very end where it said “The past was finally gone now.” The entire book, Neely’s goal was to relive his past one last time, and then move on to his future life. It’s very difficult for him, but he finally overcomes his past and begins to face his future. At the end of Rake’s funeral, Neely’s burden of his past was lifted from his shoulders and he is at peace with himself.
